The role
In your role as Senior Quality Engineer you will be responsible for defining risk mitigation and compliancy review methods in development of E&A in our vessels. This with a focus on RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability, and security) during the Life Cycle. Besides this defining, analyzing, monitoring/reporting and guiding the Quality control methods and performance of these phases. This in such way that Risks are mitigated in a controlled manner. And that we will have a Continuous improvement throughout all the product phases. The work field is based within our Platform team E&A.
This objective expert role is new within Damen Workboats and of upmost importance considering the changeover to a more Sustainable / electrical product portfolio and the developments on Automation.
Key accountabilities
In this role you will be:
- Setting up Design Assurance (Compliance & Design review) Process in the field of E&A
- Supporting and coaching projects and their engineers on the quality aspects of their deliverables
- Develop, implement and governance standard risk management tools (i.e. D&P-FMEA’s)
- Assure proper supplier selection based on provided performance of new and existing suppliers to support design and development, and to drive supplier improvement efforts
- Effectively lead problem solving tools/methodology
- Drive for continuous improvement. Facilitate engineers, yards to find root causes of technical issues and translate them into lessons learned. Enable process owners to translate lessons learned into guidelines, design rules, and/or process improvements.
- Collaborate with quality organization in operations and field service areas
Skills & experience
To be successful in this role you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical, automation, industrial)
- Expert experience in a manufacturing or supply chain management in a complex and dynamic technical environment
- Expert level in D&P-FMEA’s (or willing to learn/develop)
- Green or Black Belt / Lean Six Sigma experience (RCA/8D methodology)
- Self-directed, confident, analytical-logical fact based thinking and people’s person
- Good oral and written command of both Dutch and English;
- Enthusiasm and good communication and presentation skills
- Can act on one moment as a coach/trainer and at another as a judge based on facts
- Able to travel internationally on a regular base
