About us

Within the Damen Global Support Group we have the Information Technology & Information Management (IT&IM) department. The department is also responsible for the procurement alignment and advising for our Business and IT teams. Negotiations with different suppliers and vendors is done and connecting with our Business partners is of high importance. As they are the colleagues that express their need for certain initiatives. How can we achieve the best solution and create a fitting service against the best possible terms and conditions? This is done by the Procurement IT team!

The role

Within the Procurement IT team, you will do research on the different suppliers within the fields of IT. You will be asked to dive into the IT software on a broad scale that is being used within the divisions of Damen.

Explore and identify the secondary application landscape (shadow IT) with all different suppliers that we have. Is there an overlap perhaps with the multiple suppliers and is there a way to optimize this from an contractual and commercial perspective? What are the opportunities? We would prefer to see an end product in the form of a working method and project plan.

These are just a few snippets of what you can take a look at, as an intern within the Procurement IT department. The assignment can also be directed in another area of interest, depending on your background, study and experience. We will specify the assignment together. We can accommodate a graduation project and have roles for MSc students.

The role demands that you have excellent communication skills, as you will not only be researching but also interviewing internal and external partners.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for answering a specific research question and/or for the development of an overview of all Damen activities within the IT procurement. You may hold interviews, write reports and dive into the different Divisions to find out all the information that is needed. We expect you to do this independently but of course you will have a mentor available to you. The Manager Procurement is your daily supervisor.

Skills & experience

At least several skills/experiences from the following list are required to be considered:

• BSc/MSc student with an interest in IT
• You are a student within the fields of Economics, Procurement, Finance or Business management
• Preferably experience with networking, interviews and/or research work
• Both Dutch and English communication skills are mandatory
