With headquarters located in Breda (the Netherlands), Vroon employs about 2,000 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 110 vessels. The Company is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - in the following business segments: offshore-support vessels; offshore maintenance and engineering services; livestock carriers; product tankers; high-heat tankers and vessel-management services. From our Breda head office, approximately 120 staff support the Company’s activities.

What will you do?
To strengthen the Purchasing team, we are looking for a Purchaser to join our Shared Resources team, located at our Breda head office. You will handle purchasing activities for a dedicated group of vessels. Tasks will include:

Purchasing of authorised goods and services, in accordance with legal and other relevant requirements and specifications;
Monitoring and reporting in this context;
Complying with the Company order process, reporting any non-conformities and taking relevant action, if and when necessary;
Maintaining regular contact with suppliers and evaluating their performance, in accordance with the Company’s vendor-rating system;
Pro-actively proposing improvements, saving initiatives, and other ideas that will support the Company;
Promoting sustainability on our vessels, in the office and within our supply network.

In addition to the Shared Resources team, you will work in close cooperation with a Ship Management Team, consisting of Superintendents, Purchasers and a Crewing Officer. You report to the Group Procurement and Purchasing Manager.

Who are we looking for?

Our preferred candidate has:

Affinity with the shipping industry and an interest in the supply process;
Strong ability to work independently and in a structured manner;
No direct experience required if you are motivated, energetic and willing to learn;
Excellent negotiating skills;
Good commercial awareness;
Ability to work well under pressure;
Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills in English.
