The Role

As the Team Lead Electrical at Damen Naval, you will be responsible for the part of Electrical Engineering within our naval shipbuilding projects. You will play a critical role during project setup to establish a solid work breakdown and planning structure and lead a small to mid-sized team of (Senior) Electrical Engineers during project execution. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering output, on time, while meeting the required technical and regulatory standards. You will report directly to the Project Manager Engineering, with a focus on quality, budget and schedule management.

Key Accountabilities

As Team Lead Electrical, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead an Electrical Engineering team, focusing on project delivery and team development.
  • Guide your team to follow internal standards and best practices.
  • Define work breakdowns, manage budgets and ensure on-time project completion.
  • Deliver high-quality engineering work, meeting class and customer requirements.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors, overseeing design reviews and technical performance.
  • Analyze technical offers with the Purchase department.
  • Control man-hour budgets, track progress and report to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate Technical Support to commissioning activities for seamless system integration.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the client COMMIT on the ASWF project, providing technical input and strengthening relationships.

Skills & Experience

To excel as Team Lead Electrical, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • 5+ years in designing complex Electrical Systems in the shipbuilding, offshore or maritime industry.
  • Experience in large, highly complex project environments.
  • Leadership experience with engineering teams (up to 10 people).
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Technical Automation or related field.
  • Project Management experience with the ability to finalize work packages within deadlines.
  • Familiarity with class-regulated products and Good Engineering Practices.
  • Excellent command of English language (written and verbal); Dutch skills are a plus.
  • Excellent references: Pre-employment security screening is required.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport. Candidates with EU work visa or both EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible due to the military nature of our projects.
