The role

As the Software Developer at Damen Naval, you'll be developing the core application components and data interfaces that empower our teams to design and build state-of-the-art naval vessels. Joining our Business Systems Team, you'll thrive in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with fellow developers, IT Architects, and Infra/Application Engineers to drive complex project implementations.

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Building and enhancing robust application components, including Web APIs and microservices, using C# 12+, .NET 8+, and SQL.
• Applying SOLID Principles and Design Patterns, conducting thorough Code Reviews, and ensuring quality through Test Automation and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Actively participating in our CI/CD pipelines, leveraging Docker for seamless deployments.
• Working with RESTful Web APIs, JSON, XML, and messaging systems like Service Bus, AMQP, and RabbitMQ for efficient data exchange.
• Providing crucial technical expertise to ICT, Business, and Security projects, collaborating closely with IT Architects, Engineers, and Information Managers.
• Utilizing tools like Kibana/Grafana to monitor application performance and optimize systems.

Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Mbo-4 (vocational education) or bachelor’s degree in information technology or software development.
• A demonstrable passion for software development and a minimum of five years of professional work experience in the field.
• Hands-on expertise with C# 12+, .NET 8+, Docker, Active Directory (LDAPS & ADFS), Service Bus, AMQP, RabbitMQ, CI/CD, Test Automation, GIT, Code Reviews, RESTFUL Web APIs, JSON, XML, SQL, and Grafana.
• Familiarity with foundational software engineering principles, including SOLID Principles, Design Patterns, and Test-Driven Development
• Good command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
