The Role
As Senior Team Lead Plans & Arrangements, you lead a Plans & Arrangements engineering team of approximately 15–20 engineers across multiple locations. You provide clear directions, create structures and ensure predictable delivery throughout complex naval projects. From early engineering phases onwards, you set up a solid work breakdown and planning structure, safeguard quality, cost and timelines, and align activities with project objectives. While you bring strong engineering insight, your focus is on people management, coordination and decision-making. You report to the Project Manager Engineering and act as a stabilizing leadership presence within the department.
Key responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching and developing a Plans & Arrangements engineering team of 15–20 FTE across multiple locations.
- Creating structure in planning, workload distribution and priorities, ensuring predictable delivery.
- Setting up and maintaining work breakdown structures, resource planning and team capacity management.
- Safeguarding quality, timelines and costs of P&A engineering deliverable throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces and aligning P&A activities with overall project objectives.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations and Damen Naval engineering standards.
- Monitoring team performance and progress, addressing risks and removing obstacles.
- Acting as key interface towards Project Management, other disciplines and external engineering partners.
- Supporting production and shipyard activities on Plans & Arrangements topics when required.
- Contributing to process improvement and knowledge sharing within the department.
Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- A technical bachelor’s or master’s degree with extensive experience in Plans & Arrangements or outfitting engineering, preferably within complex naval projects.
- Proven experience in leading larger engineering teams and managing work across multiple locations.
- Strong people management skills: coaching, decision-making and setting clear direction.
- The ability to translate project objectives into realistic planning and team priorities.
- Sufficient technical depth to challenge content, without needing to engineer everything yourself.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary environments with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
