The role

As the Project Quality Assurance Engineer at Damen Naval, you are responsible for optimizing the quality assurance (QA) processes and procedures for the shipbuilding project(s) you are assigned to. You oversee, advise, and report about quality issues related to these projects. Since these projects are taking place in Germany, and suppliers are located across the word, extensive international travel is an important aspect of this job.

Key accountabilities

As the Project Quality Assurance Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinates the quality processes and fosters a quality mindset in each shipbuilding project.
  • Ensuring quality management principles, protocols, and processes are correctly applied.
  • Implementing project-specific improvements in the QA processes and procedures.
  • Contributing to the adaptation and application of the QA standards and principles.
  • Ensuring the QA registration system is complete and up to date.
  • Participating in project and department progress meetings.
  • Updating project management about the quality assurance status and incident mitigations.

Skills & experience

To excel as the Project Quality Assurance Engineer, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Management, preferably acquired in the naval, defense or shipbuilding industry.
  • Experienced with manufacturing techniques and processes, preferably in the naval shipbuilding industry.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical Business Administration, Maritime Technology or Shipbuilding.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language, both written and spoken.
  • Command of the German language is a big plus.
  • Willingness and availability for extensive international travelling.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.

  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
